Protecting your home against water damage

Water remediation and repairs can be both costly and incredibly inconvenient, so PHC would like to share some tips that you can do in and around your home to help keep water where it belongs.

• Inspect your roof--replace worn or missing shingles, check flashings and caulking around vents and chimneys
• Keep your gutters and downspouts clean of debris
• Help water drain away from your home by sloping your landscaping away from the house
• Check your home's foundation for cracks
• Check the insulation on pipes along the exterior walls of your home to prevent them from freezing during winter months
• Inspect your hot water heater and pipes under sinks regularly for leaks
