Winter Storm Safety

Lillington missed out on the light snowfall that Raleigh and areas north saw overnight.  Although the temperatures are going to rebound in the mid-60s again this week, I wanted to share some winter safety tips with you in the event we get another taste of the cold this winter.

In the event of snow or icy conditions, make sure you have the following:

  • food and water--at least a 3 day supply
  • flashlight with extra batteries
  • radio
  • plenty of baby supplies
  • warm coats, gloves, hats and boots
  • alternate heat in case you lose electricity
  • rock salt, sand or kitty litter for steps and walkways

Remember to make sure your chimney has been cleaned and inspected to help guard against build up in chimneys that could cause fire damage or "puff backs" or soot damage inside your house.
